 THE INVITATION

We are living through a collective rite of passage.

As global citizens we are experiencing a crucible moment in our shared human story.

Our world is in an unprecedented state of flux. Our planet is on fire, and underwater. People are on the move

We are labouring through unprecedented interlocking crises, man-made catastrophes and the fall of empire

Many of us sense that we are standing at a threshold.

Between what has been and what is yet to come.

Between endings and beginnings.

Between grief and possibility.

We are being called to step into greater response-ability as ancestors-in-training.

And we need a map to help us find our way home.

In times of profound transition, human beings have always turned to the more-than-human world for guidance. Our ancestors looked to the movements of the sun and moon, the turning of the seasons and the rhythms of the Earth to help them orient themselves within the great cycles of life.

They understood that life was not linear.

It moved in cycles.

Through expansion and contraction.

Growth and Decay.

Light and Dark.

Life, Death & Rebirth.

From this understanding emerged the Wheel of the Year.

As a living map.

A wisdom system that helped people navigate uncertainty, honour transition and remember their place within the wider web of life.

As we navigate the apex of this Summer Solstice, I invite you into a shared exploration of the Wheel of the Year as an ancient technology of belonging and a guide for these extraordinary times.

“Both the Winter and the Summer Solstices are expressions of love. They show us the opposition of light and dark, expansion and contraction, that characterize our experiences in the Earth school so that we can recognize our options as we move through our lives.”

- Gary Zukav

WHY

ZENITH

&

NADIR?

The Summer Solstice is the zenith of the solar year.

The longest day.

The fullest expression of light.

The height of expansion, vitality and visibility.

Yet hidden within this moment is a profound teaching.

The instant the light reaches its peak, it begins its return toward darkness.

The Great Wheel turns.

Our ancestors recognised that every summit contains the seed of descent and every descent carries the promise of a new rising.

The Winter Solstice is the nadir and holds the complementary mystery.

The deep still point.

The fertile darkness.

The place where new life begins unseen.

Together, Zenith and Nadir reveal one of the great teachings of the Wheel.

Wholeness is not found by choosing one pole over another.

It emerges through learning to hold and embody the tension of opposites.

Ascent and Descent.

Certainty and Mystery.

Action and Rest.

The Wheel teaches us that these are not opposing forces to conquer, but creative partners in the unfolding of life itself.

“If you relive the myth at this time you tend to forget your profane condition, the habituations and narrowing of everyday life and enter for a while into a much larger universe, a larger and truer ecology of being.”

- Jean Heuston

MEET YOUR GUIDE

Kathy is a cultural activist, educator and creative entrepreneur.

Her work sits at the intersection of Irish cosmology, cultural memory, mythology, somatics, ecology, trauma-informed practice and ancestral wisdom.

For many years, she has explored how ancient Irish ways of knowing can help us navigate contemporary challenges and restore a deeper sense of belonging, to ourselves, to one another, and to this place we call home.

Her approach to the Wheel of the Year is as an embodied cosmology of homecoming—a living map that reveals how creation, transformation, healing, and belonging unfold through cyclical patterns in nature, psyche, culture, and spirit.

Drawing from Irish cosmology, esoteric traditions, depth psychology, eco-somatic embodiment, and trauma informed learning she explores how apparent opposites such as life and death, exile and belonging, grief and renewal are held in creative tension and transformed through synthesis.

Through this lens, the Wheel becomes more than a seasonal calendar.

It becomes a framework for understanding cultural remembering, creative emergence, personal initiation and the restoration of relationship with land, ancestry, body and soul.

This gathering offers a taste of her upcoming Homecoming offering, a Samhain retreat exploring land, lineage, language, memory and belonging on the Bearra Peninsula, on the west coast of Ireland.

WHY NOW?

Because many of us are longing for a map.

We live in a culture that celebrates perpetual growth and productivity.

But the wild world reveals a different story.

The Earth moves in cycles. There are seasons for flowering and seasons for fallow ground.

Times for action and times for reflection.

Moments of emergence and moments of descent.

When we lose connection with these rhythms, we can lose our way.

The Wheel of the Year offers another possibility.

A way rooted in relationship rather than extraction.

Participation rather than domination.

Belonging rather than separation.

At this Summer Solstice threshold, we are invited to pause and reflect.

To honour both what is flourishing and what is asking to be released.

To remember that we are not separate from the great turning of the Earth.

We are participants within the process of creation

We are ancestors-in-training.
